AI-First Engineering Leader

Building and leading AI-first engineering teams in regulated enterprises. Turning point solutions into intelligent operating platforms.

About Me

Engineering Leader. AI Strategist. Author.

I've spent the past several years leading AI and automation program inside a regulated Fortune 100 enterprise, building a portfolio of seven internal AI products that shipped, scaled, and delivered measurable impact.

My work sits at the intersection of AI engineering, platform architecture, and organizational leadership in industries where compliance is non-negotiable: pharmaceuticals, financial services, healthcare, and insurance.

Software development is being rewritten by AI, and engineering leaders who don't adapt will be left behind. The pharmaceutical industry is facing a disruption as radical as what AWS did to bookstores or Uber did to taxi cabs. I wrote the books because the playbooks that got us here won't get us where we're going. The future is AI-first development.

What I Bring

Areas of Expertise

People Leadership

Hiring, mentoring, and retaining high-performing engineers. Setting clear expectations, running effective 1:1s, managing performance with candor, and creating the psychological safety that lets teams take risks and deliver. People don't leave companies, they leave managers. I take that personally.

Program Budget & ROI

Owning multi-million dollar program budgets, forecasting inference costs, and translating engineering investment into business outcomes the CFO can defend. Building the financial models that prove AI isn't overhead, it's a value accelerator.

Leading for the Future

The tools, patterns, and expectations of software engineering are changing faster than most organizations can adapt. I stay current on where the industry is headed and make sure my teams are ready before the shift arrives, not after.

AI-First Engineering

Building and leading teams where humans direct and agents build. Designing the operating model that makes AI-first delivery sustainable across the entire SDLC.

Platform Engineering

Transforming point-solution portfolios into intelligent operating platforms that compound value across every deployment.

Regulated Industry AI

Deploying AI at scale in pharma, healthcare, financial services, and insurance where compliance is non-negotiable and the cost of error is existential.

Agent Orchestration

Designing agent workflows with evaluation gates, specification-driven development, and human-in-the-loop governance.

Digital Transformation Strategy

Translating AI capability into business outcomes with measurable ROI using Digital Work Equivalents and platform economics.

Context Engineering

Making codebases machine-legible through design systems, API contracts, and artifact ecosystems that agents can reason about.

How AI Is Rewriting Drug Discovery and Closing Pharma's Patent Cliff

Between now and 2030, patent protections will expire on drugs generating over $200 billion in annual revenue. This book traces the collision of pharma's greatest financial crisis with the scientific revolution that may be its answer, AI deployed across every stage of how drugs are discovered and developed.

What you'll learn:

The Prediction Stack — a three-layer framework for understanding drug discovery failure
AI across the full pipeline: target ID, molecule design, digital twins, clinical trials
Platform companies changing the game: Recursion, Insilico, Isomorphic Labs
Big Pharma's AI bets: Roche, Novartis, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, J&J

Why You're Not Getting Hired

The Hidden System Filtering You Out — and How to Beat It

The hiring process was redesigned by AI and nobody told the candidates. This field manual pulls back the curtain on Applicant Tracking Systems, algorithmic scoring, and AI-powered screening, then gives you a repeatable system to beat them.

What you'll learn:

The Resume Match Score (RMS) — measure how well your resume maps to any job description
The Role Fit Score (RFS) — evaluate if a job is right for you before optimizing for it
How ATS platforms parse, score, and filter your application
AI-assisted resume building and standing out in the AI arms race
Why uploading your resume and job description to AI produces a generic resume that looks like everyone else's and will score 50% or lower in ATS systems
The complete AI Job Search System — a repeatable playbook

From The Platform Inversion

Key Ideas

The principles and frameworks that anchor the AI-first operating model.

The Platform Inversion

Point solutions are valuable but they cannot compound. Platforms do. The transition from portfolio to platform is not a technology decision, it is a leadership decision.

Digital Work Equivalents

A unit of AI-produced value that a finance organization can defend. The metric that lets you talk to your CFO about the return on an agent workforce.

Context is the Product

The brand book, design system, SDK, API docs, and runbooks are now the highest-leverage investments. The code is the output, the context is the product.

Verification over Implementation

The developer's job shifts from writing code to verifying outcomes. Evals are the new unit tests. Demos are not evidence.

Humans Direct, Agents Build

The unit of leadership shifts from managing humans who write code to orchestrating a hybrid system in which humans direct and agents build.

Specifications are Executable

User stories were designed for human developers who fill gaps with judgment. Agents cannot. The Agent Brief is the new highest-value artifact.

Why I Built This AI

I practice what I preach. If I'm going to write a book about AI-first operating models, this website should be a living example of the principles in that book.

The chat assistant you see in the corner of this site is powered by Claude. It knows my background, my frameworks, the content of my books, and what I'm looking for in my next role. It's a demonstration of what “context is the product” looks like in practice.

Ask it anything about the Platform Inversion thesis, Digital Work Equivalents, the eight principles, my career, or what kind of team I want to lead next.

Try asking:

What is the Platform Inversion?

The book's central thesis

Try asking:

What is a DWE?
